Going to jail first time #1 - If someone attacks you sexually or rapes you, fight back and fight back hard. If you put up a serious fight while one or two inmates try to rape you, they may stop. Showing intimidation and using violence are the biggest tools of surviving jail your first time. If you get sexually abused by other inmates, you will be seen as a punk and will recieve no respect from anyone. However, if you instantly fight back before the situation escalates to you getting raped, you will be less of a target. Always remember that criminals will pick on the most weak and vulnerable members of society. Being able to fight back and as hard and vicious as possible will gain you respect.

Going to jail first time #2 - Acting like a mental health patient. The mentally ill trick does work, but be warned, don't let it drive you to real insanity, because it can. Basically, the mentally inmates in jail are typically avoided. The mentally ill are seen as dangerous amongst most of the inmates and want nothing to do with these types of people. Pacing, talking to yourself out loud, doing bizarre things, and not showering often can get you labeled as a bug. Just be warned that you will have very little respect, but atleast you won't be victimized as much behind bars.

Going to jail first time #3 - Absolutely never hang out with known informants or sexual offenders. If you are a known sexual offender or informant your stay behind prison walls will be dangerous and violent. Don't hang out with these people what so ever. You will be victimized by the other inmates. No sex offender's friendship is worth it. But if you do want to gain respect behind prison walls attacking a sexual offender can win you respect amongst your inmate peers. Otherwise stay away from gang members and stay away from the guards.
